Singer's Guide

Healthy singing technique for all styles
  • In singing lessons we work on a variety of topics to improve your vocal skills and develop your musical potential:

  • Posture

Posture plays a crucial role in singing and vocal production. Proper posture supports breathing, resonance and projection of the voice, as well as pitch control and volume. Be sure to maintain your posture to optimize your vocal abilities.

    Vocal Register

The use of the individual registers is crucial for the versatility and sound quality of a singer. The ability to switch between registers (i.e. between chest voice, mixed voice and head voice) and control them effectively is crucial to a singer's versatility and expressiveness.

    Selection of Pieces

Vocal students learn how to select appropriate songs for their vocal range and abilities. Choosing the right repertoire is crucial to accentuate vocal strengths. Of course you can also sing your favorite pieces. We accompany you on the piano or play a playback.

  • Breathing and Support

We focus on optimizing your breathing with deep and diaphragmatic breathing. Diaphragmatic support is the process by which you specifically use the muscles of the diaphragm to control airflow while singing. This technique allows you to sustain long tones, improve intonation, and increase sound strength without overloading your vocal cords.

    Interpretation

Interpretation of a vocal piece is an essential aspect of singing and refers to the singer's ability to convey the emotions, message and meaning of the song in an artistically expressive manner. A successful interpretation makes the singing come alive, touches the audience and gives the song a personal touch.

    Music Theory

A basic knowledge of music theory is helpful in understanding the structure of songs, notation and harmonies. This can improve the student's ability to understand and sing music better. We'll help you read the music better.

  • Voice Use and Voice Training

We develop your singing voice by working on sound quality, resonance and projection. The use of the voice is important; it must be soft and not breathy. This is how you achieve sound and sing with power! A trained use of voice allows you to produce an impressive and powerful sound.

    Gestures and Stage Presence

When the singer performs on stage, posture, gestures and facial expressions can have a great influence on the interpretation. These visual elements can help reinforce the song's message. In our workshops we work on performance skills, for castings and performances.
